Can I Brush My Teeth Too Much?

While there really is no such thing as brushing too much, you can cause problems if you brush improperly. If you apply too much pressure while you brush, you may find that you can cause abrasion of the gum tissue and of the enamel, which can lead to other problems such as sensitive teeth.

On the other hand, if you do not brush properly, you may leave yourself open to problems stemming from the bacteria you leave behind. This presence of bacteria can lead to gingivitis and periodontitis, and there have been recent studies that indicate the presence of heavy plaque in the mouth can lead to the buildup of plaque in the arteries.
