John Nikas, DMD
Dr. John Nikas, D.M.D. is a periodontal disease specialist with extensive experience in implant dentistry.
Dr. Nikas graduated from the University of Pittsburgh-School of Dental Medicine. He completed his specialty training in periodontics at Temple University School of Dentistry. He is a Board Certified Periodontal Specialist.
After working in his own private practice in Pittsburgh for 17 years, Dr. Nikas relocated to Philadelphia and joined Briglia Dental Group, where he focuses exclusively on periodontics.
Dr. Nikas is a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology and is an Academy of Osseointegration member.
Board Certified Periodontal Specialist
Dr. Nikas concentrates on periodontal treatments, which include gum disease management and reconstructive dentistry.
Dr. Nikas offers patients an advanced perspective on preventing the damaging effects of gum disease. Inattention to this disease can lead to devastating oral health problems and prevention is essential.
When treating bone deterioration and tooth loss, dental implants are often deemed more desirable than crowns and bridges. Implants offer considerable health benefits compared to traditional dentures, which are known for slipping and harmfully impacting the diet of the denture wearer.
Dental Health Philosophy
“Preventing tooth loss is much more affordable than tooth replacement. More importantly, it’s the best approach for a longer and healthier life. While I am excited to restore the health of people who have lost one or many teeth with implant dentistry, I intensely focus my energies on periodontal disease management.
Patients as well as their spouses, family and friends deserve a proactive response and assertive plan to avoid the damage caused by oral disease, which can include associated systemic and overall health complications.
I am committed to preventing negative outcomes, not just responding to them effectively when they occur.”
– Dr. Nikas
